What "career-ending injury" did Bob Groom suffer in 1917?

ReplyDeleteBob Groom was drafted in 1908 by the Chicago Cubs (The curse is alive as Babe Ruth suffered a career ending injury after being drafted by the Cubbies). In 1911 he won the NL Rookie Of The Year and Gold Glove. He suffered a torn rotator cuff ending his career. His final totals were: 87-90, 2.95 ERA, & 855 K's.
